I needed glasses so I made an appointment. After my exam I pick out my glasses. When I was done my out of pocket was $265.00. She told me if I were to pay without this insurance it would have been over $800.00. I am so glad I have this insurance. I told my neighbor and my sister and they told me they were going to apply. VSP is the first vision insurance I have had. I needed to get up to date on my eye care, new glasses, lenses, exam, etc. I started with a very basic and affordable plan. The price per month worked for me. After all the services were done, I saved about 48% on the total cost! My eyes are good to go.
I believe I originally enrolled thru an employer but continued as an individual plan holder when I retired so I have been with VSP for years. VSP is THE most painless, affordable insurance coverage I've ever had. And the few times I have needed customer service I have received a prompt response from an actual human. They encourage me to maintain regular eye exams (even more important as we age), and have taken much of the sting out of the cost of new eyeglasses; particularly important as everything around us gets more expensive & we are trying to survive on a fixed income. They are unquestionably a good bargain that everyone should take advantage of, whether you are retired like me or have a young, growing family.
I am retired and my husband supplemental medical plan doesn’t cover vision, it’s great to know that we found an affordable vision plan that allows us both to get an annual vision exam, and insurance to cover ouw glasses when our prescription changes significantly. Even when it doesn’t, it gives us an opportunity to have two pairs of affordable quality glasses that we can wear thanks to VSP.
I enrolled in the plan because my Advantage plan did not cover my Eye Doctor who I have been with for years. VSP covered so much of my bill it made my life much easier.

I've been using VSP now for about 5 or 6 years and they've been absolutely amazing. I've been wearing glasses for 35 years and the past years with VSP has changed everything for my eyes. I didn't know what to expect with access to Optometrist and was beyond surprised with the Optometrist in their network. As a matter of fact, the last two Optometrist I've had while using VSP has been the greatest level of care and diagnosis in the past 35 years of wearing glasses. I have an astigmatism and keratoeonus, so the lenses I need are special and more expensive than the average lens. VSP allows me to get the best lenses available so I can see as clear as possible at an affordable price. I've recommended VSP to several friends and they started using them and couldn't be happier.

Like another reviewer, I was skeptical when an optometrist recommended VSP coverage. I asked him what the catch was, and he said there wasn’t a catch. After years of paying high prices for necessary eyewear, I decided I would try it for a year, and this small investment saved me about $500 right off the bat! I was so happy, I purchased VSP coverage for another family and we just renewed our plans. My employer does offer coverage, but it does not compare to VSP. I highly recommend this coverage to anyone, whether they need prescription eyewear or not.

I retired over two years ago and lost my vision plan. I could have kept it; however, the cost was too much for the substandard policy. I did my research, and found VSP. The coverage is topnotch, and I could not ask for any better. The greatest perk is the cost of the plan. Now, my fiance and I have the same coverage, and could not be happier.
