I retired and wanted to have vision insurance because I'd had it when working. I called locally and ask what vision insurances my providers took and they told me several, I ask about VSP and they told me it was a great paying insurance. I have been very pleased with my coverage. Glad I made this choice.
The premium is reasonable and the coverage helped me be able to have new lenses for my regular glasses and for my computer glasses. My computer glasses make it much easier for me to work on my computer all day and not have headaches. A great investment!
I was looking for an affordable monthly plan, as I lack vision coverage at my place of employment and typically needed new prescriptions. For years I would pay as much as $300 to $400 just for one pair of glasses, no counting other expenses. With the plan I'm on, just last year I paid $90 for an annual exam, copay, and an extra pair of glasses. I'm pleased I made this decision and I like what VSP is about.
I enrolled because my job at the time didn't provide vision insurance and my eyes have been getting progressively worse for most of my life. The fact that I know I can afford my glasses even as my prescription had continued to get more expensive - including things like transition lenses, lighter lenses, and just about any frame I want - has meant the world to me. It means I can see, and still look good while protecting my eyes.
The vision benefit through my Medicare Advantage paid for the exam, but only had a $200.00 benefit for lenses and frames that the optometrist didn't accept. I enrolled in my VSP plan on the 29th of September and coverage went into effect October 1st. My out of pocket expense was $348.00 for frames, transition progressive lenses and every additional coating known to man. VSP saved me around $545.00 on my glasses, otherwise, I would still be wearing my old glasses. I highly recommend VSP to my family and friends.
I enrolled after I lost insurance coverage due to unemployment, I was in a bind. I asked the doctor's office if there were any other options for insurance, and they provided the information, I made the call, and 30 days later, my son & I had coverage. Five years later, I am still a satisfied client. This has made a big difference. It is affordable, and the coverages are real (no surprises, no disappointment). The representatives on the the phone are HUMAN. It is so worth it. I strongly recommend VSP.
I was with VSP when I was working and wanted to keep the eye doctor that I found, I really like her. When I retired, I looked into the benefits that were offered with my Medicare Advantage plan, but they don't let me see my current eye Dr. So I have stayed with VSP and am happy that I can still keep what I have.
I enrolled in VSP because I wanted eye insurance and it was more expensive through my current insurance. I recently had an eye examination and had to buy new glasses. The exam didn't cost me anything and because I had VSP insurance, my glasses only cost me $125. The cost before insurance was close to $1000. This a great insurance company and highly recommend it.
I enrolled for 2 reasons: most important was my past positive experienced with VSP, and second, to fill a gap between Medicare coverage and my current eyecare needs. The plan is excellent value for a small premium, and gave me the ability to get the glasses I needed which were not covered under Medicare.
