When can I start using my VSP vision insurance?

You can use your benefits the same day you enroll, no need to wait.

Do I need an ID card to use my vision insurance plan?

With a VSP Individual Vision Plan, your eye doctor will already have access to your coverage plan with your name and social security number. Your doctor’s office and VSP in-network provider work together for claims. You only pay the out-of-pocket difference.

How do I use my vision insurance benefits?

It’s simple. To make the most of your benefits schedule an  appointment with a VSP network eye doctor, get your eye exam, fill your prescription for frames or contact lenses, and that’s it. You pay any copays or overages you might owe right on the spot, but through your VSP vision care plan VSP and your provider takes care of the rest.

How often can I see the eye doctor for an eye exam?

With all VSP Individual Vision Plans, except our EyewearOnly plan, you’re covered for an eye exam every 12 months, after a copay.

How do I use my vision insurance plan to save money?

Because VSP is a not-for-profit vision care company, you’ll get access to high-quality care from a VSP network doctor and low out-of-pocket costs. As a member of VSP, you'll save an average of $470 each year, plus you'll get an extra $20 to spend on Featured Frame Brands!*  So go to the eye doctor, get your eyes checked and pick the eyeglass frames and lens enhancements that suit your vision needs.

Do I need to file any insurance claims or be reimbursed for payments?

When you visit a VSP in-network eye doctor, any charges that are not covered by your VSP vision plan are paid for at the eye doctor’s office before you leave. And it’s always an option for you to use funds from a Health Savings Account (HSA) for this purpose.
